When identified early, 90% of bowel cancer cases can be successfully treated, and that’s why we strongly encourage regular bowel screening.
Australia has one of the highest rates of bowel cancer in the world and it is the second most common cause of cancer related deaths in the country.
Bowel cancer can occur at any age but those most at risk include people who:
- Are over 50 years old
- Have a family history of bowel cancer
- Have a fatty diet
- Don’t exercise regularly
- Not enough fibre in their diet
The good news is there is a quick, simple and non-invasive way to screen for bowel cancer, making it easy for you to test yourself every year.
The test can be done at home using the swab card which checks for traces of blood in your stool.
Bowel screening kits are available at your local HealthShed Discount Pharmacy. Speak with our friendly staff or your pharmacist if you have any questions about the test.
